ReplyDeleteI was interested in getting started as a voice over artist and I stumbled across your site after looking up reviews for VoiceBunny. I saw your podcast and was delighted to find something so on point for what I was researching!
But here's the thing:
I listened to all of the podcasts you have as of this date (1/25) and I have to say - are you having fun? Because the podcasts sound a bit angry and negative throughout the majority of each session. I even clicked out of the last few minutes of the third one, it was so negative! You seem kind of upset and it feels like this podcast is less of a "Information for newbies!" and more of a "Mr. Torres rants about the things that bother him".
I think you have a super sexy, awesome voice though, and great production value! And there is information I found valuable - but only about 30-40% of the time. I would perhaps suggest writing out a stream-lined script and ask what is the overall effect you're going for - exposing problems that are really important to you, or providing new talent with quality information and positive inspiration. As it is, I just felt so depressed after your last podcast that I don't look forward to the next one. Even if I got good information out of it... Which really sucks!
If this is just your style, then I understand. If this wasn't your intent, then perhaps you might focus on the joy of the art, or the reason you got into VO to begin with? Just tossing in my wheat pennies.

In the future, i'll try and keep it up and get some positivity in there!
I am trying to streamline more information. I, myself, listen to a lot of podcasts, and i find that a lot of podcasts tend to start with people talking about their day and i only really find a small percentage of actual information. My goal was to get more info per minute.
Initially, i wanted a really streamlined 15 minute podcast. That last one got by me! Actually, all of them could probably be cut by about 5 minutes or so.
I will take your advice and get some good info out there for you and keep smiling.
